The Garrett County Department of Business Development recently joined the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce to celebrate a new milestone for local entrepreneur Mary Burris and Deep Creek Pretzel Company with a ribbon cutting for its new Mobile Pretzel Factory.
The expansion is an exciting example of how local businesses can identify new opportunities to grow their customer base and expand their reach. The mobile operation will allow Deep Creek Pretzel Company to bring its fresh, handcrafted pretzels directly to festivals, events, community gatherings, and other locations throughout Garrett County and beyond.
Chamber President Nick Sharps led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by Kendall Abruzzese, Outreach Coordinator for Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, who presented Burris with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition.
“Mary is just one of those people who is an absolute pleasure to be around. Her energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and you can tell how much passion she puts into Deep Creek Pretzel Company and everything she does,” said Sharps. “It’s always exciting to see a local entrepreneur with that kind of passion continue to grow, and I think this Mobile Pretzel Factory is the perfect next twist in Mary’s story. We can’t wait to see where she takes it, and we’re certainly rooting for her to make plenty of dough along the way.”
Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, also offered congratulations on the company’s expansion. "The expansion of Deep Creek Pretzel Company highlights the entrepreneurial spirit within Garrett County and the opportunities available for small businesses to innovate, adapt, and pursue new market," said Norman.
Chamber Diplomats Carol Calhoun, Kim Carter, Connor Norman, and Macey Wells presented Burris with a First Dollar of Profit certificate and assisted with the official ribbon cutting.
