James Hook is the owner and operator of Hook, Line & Lake, a new bait and fishing supplies store located in the Shop 'n Save Plaza in McHenry.
“We knew there was a need for it…,” Hook said. “I know what everybody is looking for.” Hook also manages the grocery store in the plaza, watching the traffic from local and tourism needs. He can see what the customers are missing,
Hook, Line & Lake, located at 24586 Garrett Highway, McHenry, will be open year-round, with seasonal hours currently 7 AM to PM. Hook’s goal is to make a one-stop shop for Garrett County recreational experiences. The store holds inventory of camping gear, summer and winter ice fishing, pickle ball equipment, hunting gear, outdoor fireplaces and more.
“I wish I would’ve thought of this years ago…” Hook reflected “There’s so much I learn every week… I am shocked at the things I am selling.” He said he sells more and more items he didn’t think would be popular.
The need for a live bait and outdoor recreation shop is met through Hook, Line & Lake. The wide selection of products and gear accommodate every hobbyist’s needs. Hook is excited to offer his selections to the community.
“I am trying to make a one-stop shopping plaza…,” he said. Along with managing the grocery store comes the ability to see deficits in people’s shopping experience. With his knowledge of the customer needs and local activities, Hook, Line & Lake is sure to offer what is needed for the next adventure.
