Access to reliable, affordable child care is an important part of a strong local workforce. For Garrett County employers and working families, child care availability can directly affect employees’ ability to enter or remain in the workforce.
Maryland child care providers are invited to participate in a virtual Child Care Scholarship (CCS) Town Hall hosted by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
The Town Hall will provide updates from the CCS team regarding program eligibility and the CCS waitlist. Spanish interpretation will be available.
The September 24th Town Hall will replace the regularly scheduled September Child Care Information Session.
Important CCS Program Update
Beginning in July 2026, families experiencing homelessness will no longer be placed on the CCS waitlist. They will receive a Child Care Scholarship if they meet all other program eligibility requirements. The change is part of legislation enacted in 2026 addressing CCS enrollment and waitlist procedures.
Providers can use the Town Hall to learn more about the program changes and receive updates directly from the CCS team.

Town Hall for Parents and Families
MSDE will also host a virtual CCS Town Hall specifically for parents and families of children enrolled in the CCS Program on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Child care providers and community organizations are encouraged to share information about the parent and family session with families in their communities.
