Applications Open: 2026 Leadership Garrett County

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Leadership Garrett County Program. A partnership between Garrett College and the Garrett County Department of Business Development, Leadership Garrett County is a dynamic professional development opportunity designed to inspire, connect, and empower the next generation of community leaders.

The program, open to both emerging and established professionals, is dedicated to building a network of informed, engaged leaders who are ready to shape the future of Garrett County. Participants will explore key regional issues, learn how local decisions are made, and gain hands-on experience through interactive learning sessions, case studies, and site visits across the county.

Throughout the program, participants will:

  • Engage directly with community leaders and guest speakers

  • Participate in experiential learning and collaborative discussions

  • Examine regional challenges and leadership structures

  • Develop and present a capstone project that proposes real-world solutions to local issues

“Leadership Garrett County provides a unique opportunity for professionals to not only grow their leadership skills but also to make a tangible impact on our community,” said Kim Durst, Business Development Manager with the Garrett County Department of Business Development. “By connecting participants with key stakeholders and regional organizations, the program strengthens our local workforce and inspires meaningful change throughout the region.”

The 2026 class will culminate with participants presenting their solution-focused projects to community stakeholders, demonstrating their understanding of local needs and their readiness to lead.

Let’s build the next generation of leaders—right here in Garrett County.
