The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a seminar to provide a comprehensive overview of Maryland's Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program. Presented by by Brandon Younkin of CBIZ, this seminar is open to all Garrett County businesses.
Beginning January 1, 2027, employers and employees will begin contributing to the program, with benefits becoming available to eligible employees on January 1, 2028. Employers will also need to determine whether to participate in the State-run program or offer an approved private plan.
In the seminar, Mr. Younkin will cover:
- What FAMLI is
- How it’s funded
- How the benefit works
- The differences in State and Private Plans
With important decisions and new obligations ahead, this seminar is designed to give employers the information they need to prepare their businesses and employees for FAMLI.
Registration is required. A light breakfast will be provided for all attendees.
