Garrett County Business Development is inviting local entrepreneurs, business owners, and anyone interested in learning more about business development to join Business Development Specialist Connor Norman for a series of informal “Coffee with Connor” events this fall.
The events are designed to provide an easy, informal opportunity for members of the business community to sit down with a member of the Garrett County Business Development team, ask questions, and learn more about the resources available to support businesses in Garrett County.
“Business development is really about making connections and helping people find the right resources,” said Norman. “These coffee events are a chance to have a conversation, whether you already own a business, are thinking about starting one, or simply want to better understand what Garrett County Economic Development does.”
The events will be held at three local coffee shops throughout the county:
- Black Hawk Coffee – 225 East Oak Street, Oakland
October 2, 2026 | 9 a.m. – Noon - Root Café – 321 Chestnut Street, Friendsville
November 6, 2026 | 9 a.m. – Noon - The Travel Mug – 168 Miller Street, Grantsville
December 4, 2026 | 9 a.m. – Noon
No formal presentation is planned. Attendees are encouraged to stop by at any time during the three-hour window for a casual conversation with Norman. Coffee will be buy-your-own/bring-your-own.
Garrett County Business Development works directly with the county’s business community by connecting businesses and entrepreneurs with appropriate resources, including business referrals, financing opportunities, workforce resources, site selection assistance, marketing resources, and other local, state, and regional partners.
The “Coffee with Connor” events are part of the department’s ongoing effort to be accessible to the local business community and to build relationships with businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Garrett County.
“Some of the most valuable conversations we have with businesses happen outside of a formal meeting,” said Kim Durst, Manager of Business Development for Garrett County Business Development. “We want businesses and entrepreneurs to know that our office is here, and that reaching out to us is a good first step when they have a question or simply aren’t sure where to turn.”
