The purpose of the Small Business Marketing Grant Program is to aid in the promotion of small, non-agriculture businesses with 25 or fewer employees based in Garrett County, Maryland. Any for-profit, non-agriculture business with 25 or fewer employees based in Garrett County and with a physical in Garrett County, Maryland is eligible to apply.
Home-based businesses and independent contractors are not eligible to apply.
GRANT AWARDS ARE TAXABLE AS INCOME. GRANT RECIPIENTS WILL RECEIVE A 1099 AT THE END OF CALENDAR YEAR 2025.
PLEASE USE THE SAME ADDRESS ON THE APPLICATION, IRS W-9 FORM, AND VENDOR INFORMATION REQUEST FORM. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RECEIVE MAIL AT THAT ADDRESS. IF YOU RECEIVE MAIL VIA A POST OFFICE BOX, PLEASE USE BOTH STREET ADDRESS AND POST OFFICE BOX ON ALL FORMS.
The FY 2025 Small Business Marketing Grant Program comes with NEW restrictions and requirements, including restrictions on eligible purchases and deadlines for submission of receipts and proof of payment.
PLEASE CAREFULLY REVIEW THE Document SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING GRANT INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES (219.64 KB) , WHICH COMPRISE THE FIRST PAGE OF THE APPLICATION, TO ASCERTAIN YOU ADHERE TO ALL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND FUNDING GUIDELINES. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN FORFEITURE OF GRANT FUNDS.
- Applicant is not eligible for multiple awards during any given fiscal year.
- Applicant must be in good standing with the State of Maryland and Garrett County Government; and have a current Garrett County Business License, if required by law.
- Grants of up to $1,000 each may be awarded to fund up to 90% of the costs of each project. Applicant must contribute at least 10% of the total project costs.
- Applicant will have 90 days from the date of grant approval to submit paid receipts, photos or screenshots of all items purchased, and proof of payment (i.e., copies of canceled checks or credit card receipts) for reimbursement. If all required items are not received within 90 days from the date of grant approval, grant funds will be forfeited.
- Applicant must submit the grant application, with all accompanying required documentation (see instructions), and receive written notice of grant approval prior to incurring any expenses. Applicant will not be reimbursed for any expenses incurred prior to the grant award date or for expenses not listed on the initial application or for which Applicant has not received subsequent written approval to purchase.

Grant funds are limited each fiscal year and are subject to availability of funds. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The grant program for any given fiscal year will close once available grant funds have been exhausted.
