Ribbon Cutting Held for Moonglade Integrative, LLC

Garrett County Business Development hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 12, 2024, to celebrate the opening of Moonglade Integrative, LLC.

The business, owned by Jennifer Resh, is located in the Grantville Plaza at 3233B Chestnut Ridge Road.

Resh specializes in family practice and has extensive experience with addiction treatment and its comorbidities of mental health conditions and infectious disease.

The group was welcomed by Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist.

“What a tremendous business and really a niche that is being filled perfectly with this holistic healing,” he said. “We’re extremely happy to have you in our community.”

He introduced Garrett County Commissioner Paul Edwards.

“Thank you for your investment in our community,” he said. “It’s nice to see what’s happening here at the plaza and it’s great to see a variety of things. It’s good to see some homegrown folks.”

Resh stated that she grew up in Garrett County and graduated from Southern High School in 2002.

“I did not have the easiest of paths,” she said. “I was a mother before I had graduated from high school. It was the help of my family, Community Action, the Judy Center and the Western Maryland Consortium that helped me become the person I am today. I was able to seek out job training, housing, and daycare for myself and my child. Without the support of my community, I would not have been able to provide for that same community today.”

She stated that her primary goal is to make patients healthier and link them with opportunities to learn a trade, switch trades, locate housing, find resources for bill payment, and how to effectively navigate community services so they can have the same opportunities for growth.

“My intent is to treat the most common problems our communities face today: obesity, addiction treatment, mental health management, and infectious disease prevention and treatment,” Resh said.

She noted that she wanted a centralized location in an area where obesity and addiction treatment services were needed. She found that Grantsville serves that location to target the northern  end of Garrett County, the western region of Allegany County, and the surrounding border communities in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Resh stated that her weight loss program is unique in that it incorporates naturopathic remedies in conjunction with physical procedures and medication — a three-pronged approach to improve wellness and reduce waist lines.

“My years of experience with addictions treatment has taught me that multipurpose locations are best in that these patients have limited transportation and when they have transportation, they need to make the trip work for their other needs (groceries, store trips, hardware needs, etc.),” she said.

“The Grantsville Plaza is the perfect location to expand specialized resources in Garrett County.”

Resh said her biggest hope is to meet needs for specialized treatments for conditions that are stigmatized and misunderstood.

“We have a growing problem with substance abuse and expanded resources are necessary to reduce use and improve the health of our community,” she said. “My goal is to have clinics in hard-to-reach areas so that resources can be brought into these areas and reduce the burden lack of transportation has for this underserved population.”

Resh stated that she wants people to know that she sees people of all types, ages, beliefs, colors, etc.

“Our door is open to everyone,” she said. “My overall purpose is to serve and make our lives, families, and communities stronger and healthier for the next generations.”

Resh explained that her nursing career has prepared her to provide a well-rounded holistic treatment plan focusing on those areas in need of support. Primarily those areas are obesity, addiction treatment, mental health care, and age appropriate screenings to reduce health risks and even prevent some conditions.

“Our ability to address not only a patient’s medical needs, but also their basic needs is what makes Moonglade stand out from other practices,” Resh said. “Our goal is to improve physical health and help patients to live a better life.”

She noted that she is also looking to expand Moonglade’s purpose to provide jobs and housing for those in need in Garrett and Allegany counties and surrounding communities.

“My hope is to have diverse opportunities for smaller communities to grow,” she said. “If you or someone you know have similar goals, feel free to contact me and we can work together.”
