The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, proudly celebrated the grand opening of Blair's By The Lake with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Located at The Fort on Deep Creek Drive in McHenry, Blair’s By The Lake is a specialty men’s retail shop offering dress and casual clothing, accessories, and tuxedo rentals for proms, weddings, and special occasions.
Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist and Chair of the Garrett County Diplomats, led the ceremony, which drew a crowd of supporters and local leaders. Notable guests included Stephen Rice, Deputy Secretary of Business Attraction & Special Projects at the Maryland Department of Commerce, and Andrew Sargent, the Maryland Department of Commerce's Senior Business Development Representative for Western Maryland, who presented owner Blair Glass with a Secretary’s Citation in recognition of the new business venture.
Also in attendance were Vice Chair of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Steve Green, Board Member Patty Manown Mash, and Chamber President Nick Sharps.
The Garrett County Diplomats—including Katie Cantrell, Patty Manown Mash, Connor Norman, Julie Mead, Sarena Rodeheaver, Kristin Skeweris, Josh Slone, and Tom Tanis—joined in the celebration, presenting Blair Glass with a First Dollar of Profit Certificate and assisting with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
“The late, great Mark Twain once said, ‘Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.’ Well, by that logic, Blair’s By The Lake is going to make some great men,” said Sharps.
