Mountain Laurel Medical Center Recognized as Health Center Quality Leader for 5th Consecutive Year

Mountain Laurel Medical Center continues to stand out as one of Maryland’s leading community health centers, earning national recognition through the Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) program. Based on performance data submitted in the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report to the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), the center has been honored as a Health Center Quality Leader for the fifth year in a row, demonstrating its consistent commitment to improving patient care.

“Mountain Laurel’s clinical model of care continues to produce high quality outcomes for our community,” said Mountain Laurel CEO Brian Bailey. “Our care team of providers, clinical support staff, and others are aligned in our mission and commitment to improving health. We are thankful for their engagement.”

Among its honors, MLMC received the Gold Health Center Quality Leader Badge, placing it among the top 10% of health centers nationwide and the only awardee in Maryland.

The center was also recognized with the Access Enhancer Badge for expanding patient services, the Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality Badge for improvements in access, equity, and care, and the National Quality Leader for Diabetes Badge for excelling in diabetes management and preventive care.

In addition, MLMC earned the High Value Care Badge for delivering high-quality care while achieving cost savings, highlighting its leadership in providing comprehensive, affordable healthcare to the community.

Since 2021, Mountain Laurel’s Oakland, Grantsville, and Westernport offices have each achieved the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation with distinction in Behavioral Health, a recognition that highlights their commitment to integrated, patient-focused care.

The PCMH model is designed to strengthen the connection between patients and providers by delivering coordinated, comprehensive services. Earning this designation requires meeting rigorous standards, such as expanding access to care, implementing effective care management practices, upholding strict quality and safety measures, and actively involving patients in their own healthcare decisions.

“We are honored to once again be recognized as a leader in delivering high-quality, accessible, and value-driven care,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sarah Call. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire team, who put patients and families at the center of everything we do. Our mission has always been to expand access, improve outcomes, and ensure that our community receives the highest standard of care—and this recognition affirms that commitment.”

Mountain Laurel Medical Center is a community health center with four locations in Oakland, Grantsville, and Westernport, Maryland and Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. Its mission is to “provide the highest quality primary health care to the Community regardless of ability to pay.”
