Sweet Springs Glamping Celebrates Grand Opening With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of Sweet Springs Glamping in Oakland, Maryland.

The ceremony was led by Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist and Chair of the Garrett County Diplomats. Distinguished guests included Commissioner Paul Edwards, Commissioner Larry Tichnell, and Chamber President Nick Sharps. Diplomats Kim Carter, Julie Mead, and Connor Norman presented owners Andrew and Peggy Tvardzik with a First Dollar of Profit Certificate and assisted with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“A couple of years ago, Andy and Peggy came into my office talking about this crazy vision,” said Norman. “They delivered on that vision, and the result is this jaw-dropping glamping venue that truly showcases the beauty of our community.”

Nestled on a 26-acre farm just minutes from Deep Creek Lake, Wisp Resort, and Swallow Falls State Park, Sweet Springs Glamping offers a peaceful retreat with convenient access to nearby West Virginia destinations such as Thomas, Davis, and Canaan Valley.

Accommodations are as unique as the property itself. Guests can choose from a fully furnished yurt with modern comforts, a retro-inspired renovated Airstream camper, or an overnight in a creatively converted school bus. Each lodging option blends charm and comfort, featuring cozy beds, stylish décor, and inviting outdoor spaces for stargazing and relaxation.

Designed as both a haven for relaxation and a launchpad for adventure, Sweet Springs Glamping appeals to travelers seeking everything from outdoor exploration to quiet rejuvenation. The property pairs modern amenities with the serenity of nature, creating an experience that’s as memorable as it is distinctive.

“At the Chamber, we’re dedicated to welcoming visitors who will stay a night or two, eat locally, shop small, enjoy nature, and return home singing our praises,” said Sharps. “Sweet Springs Glamping gives us even more to offer. It’s a unique destination that’s sure to draw visitors from near and far. Cheers to Sweet Springs Glamping for giving our guests new stories—and many reasons to say, ‘I’m glad I came.’”

Sweet Springs Glamping is located at 365 Crellin Underwood Road, Oakland, Maryland.
