Ribbon Cutting Held for HighPoint TV & Appliance

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 16, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of HighPoint TV & Appliance.

HighPoint TV & Appliance has expanded its presence in Garrett County with a new location at 13223 Garrett Highway, Suite 1, Oakland. The company offers a full line of major home appliances — washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, TVs, and more — along with parts, installation, and factory authorized warranty service for Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, GE, HotPoint, Crosley and GE.

By launching this new showroom and service center, HighPoint TV & Appliance is making it easier for residents and businesses in Oakland and the surrounding area to access quality appliances, trusted maintenance, and prompt service without long waits or distant travel.

“We’re plugged in and powered up to see this expansion,” said Sharps. “HighPoint TV & Appliance will keep our homes running smoothly, helping us chill out, heat up, and spin through everyday life with ease. This new location is a real high point for our community, bringing great products, trusted expertise, and another boost to our local economy. Congratulations to Chris and the entire High Point Appliance team! We’re thrilled to have you here in Garrett County.”

The event was led by Nick Sharps, President of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce. Local leaders in attendance included Commissioner Larry Tichnell and Andrew Sauder, Mayor of Oakland.

Garrett County Diplomats Ron Bittinger, Kim Carter, Stephanie Filsinger, Patty Manown Mash, Julie Mead, Chris Rodeheaver, Sarena Rodeheaver, and Kristin Skeweris also took part in the celebration, presenting owner Chris Sevigny with a First Dollar of Profit Certificate and assisting with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
