Ribbon Cutting Held for Joyful Journeys Wellness

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, October 13, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of Joyful Journeys Wellness.

Located at 220 South Third Street, Suite 2, in Oakland, Joyful Journeys Wellness is a holistic mental health practice founded by licensed social worker Jessica Moran. The practice blends traditional therapy with expressive arts, mindfulness, and wellness-centered support to help individuals reconnect with their inner strength and rediscover joy.

“Everything I do here is built around three core values—creativity, connection, and care,” said Moran. “When we engage our hands and hearts together, healing begins. My hope is that Joyful Journeys Wellness will become a place where people can come to pause, breathe, and reconnect; a place to celebrate small moments, find light in difficult times, and remember that none of us have to walk our journey alone.”

Joyful Journeys offers a range of services, including Inner Journey Sessions (individual therapy), Reflective Journey Circles (supportive group gatherings), and Creative Journey Gatherings (art-based workshops). The practice also provides take-home craft kits, encouraging clients to continue creative expression and mindfulness beyond the therapy space.

Dedicated to providing a compassionate, client-centered environment, Joyful Journeys supports individuals navigating trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and personal growth. The practice embraces the philosophy that healing is a journey, not a destination—and is committed to walking alongside each client with creativity, care, and intention.

“Jessica, congratulations on creating a space where folks can take that all-important step toward balance and healing,” said Nick Sharps, President of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce. “We know the journey to opening a business isn’t always easy, but we’re so glad yours led you right here in Garrett County. Here’s to many joyful journeys ahead.”

Local leaders in attendance included Oakland Town Councilmembers Jay Moyer and Scott Lohr. Garrett County Chamber Diplomats Kim Carter, Stephanie Filsinger, and Kristin Skeweris also took part in the celebration, presenting Moran with a First Dollar of Profit certificate and assisting with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
