Ribbon Cutting Held for Lake&Lure Country Store

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 2, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of Lake&Lure Country Store in Swanton, Maryland.

Lake&Lure Country Store is a full-service country store located at 2205 Glendale Road in Swanton, Maryland, serving the Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County region. Founded with a passion for lake life and community, Lake&Lure was created to bring convenience, character, and care to both locals and visitors.

The store offers a diverse and thoughtfully curated inventory to meet everyday needs and enhance the lakeside lifestyle. Shoppers will find daily essentials and groceries, beer and wine, bait and tackle, and a wide selection of lake-inspired apparel and gifts. Lake&Lure also emphasizes responsiveness to customer needs by encouraging patrons to request items they’d like to see on the shelves, ensuring the store evolves with community demand.

In addition to serving as a convenient stop, Lake & Lure is committed to being an employer of opportunity in the area, hiring local team members and supporting the community. The event was led by Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist and Chair of the Garrett County Diplomats. Local leaders in attendance included Commissioners Paul Edwards and Larry Tichnell; Business Retention & Expansion Representative Andrew Sargent with the Maryland Department of Commerce; Director of Planning and Community Development Steve Kelley; Business Development Manager Kim Durst; and Chamber President Nick Sharps.

Garrett County Diplomats Ron Bittinger, Kim Carter, Crystal Dayton, Stephanie Filsinger, Tracy Kelley, Patty Manown Mash, Julie Mead, Connor Norman, Kristin Skeweris, and Macey Wells also took part in the celebration, presenting owners Duffey and Angela Pitzer with a First Dollar of Profit Certificate and assisting with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
