The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce received the Best Promotional Material Award at the 44th Annual Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit, presented by the Maryland Tourism Coalition at The Hotel at the University of Maryland in College Park.
Competing against nominees from other counties and businesses in the state, the Chamber earned the award for its Garrett County Small Town Trail brochure.
The Best Promotional Material award recognizes a media piece — such as a visitors guide, newsletter, brochure, map, video or advertisement — that demonstrates outstanding strategy and implementation to promote a tourism entity or activity between September 2024 thru August 2025.
In Fall 2024, the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce partnered with CurlyRed Inc., an Oakland-based design firm, to create the Garrett County Small Town Trail brochure. The piece highlights the county’s eight incorporated small towns, showcasing their history, local businesses, outdoor recreation, and hidden gems. Available in print and digitally at visitdeepcreek.com, the brochure provides an engaging, easy-to-use guide for visitors to explore each of the county’s eight incorporated small towns. The printed brochure is distributed throughout the towns, at the Garrett County Visitors Center in McHenry, in brochure racks across Garrett and Allegany counties, and at local businesses.
“We’re grateful to the Maryland Tourism Coalition for recognizing the Small Town Trail brochure,” said Sarah Duck, Vice President of Tourism & Marketing at the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce. “This project celebrates the heart of Garrett County — our towns — and it’s incredibly meaningful to have our peers honor that work.”
The Small Town Trail promotion was previously recognized by the Maryland Office of Tourism with the 2023 Maximizing Opportunities Award, which honored its innovative approach to inspiring visitors to explore the county’s communities. The brochure represents the next phase of that promotion, continuing to drive awareness, visitation, and economic impact for Garrett County’s small towns.
