Garrett County Commissioners Paul Edwards and Larry Tichnell recently presented a county proclamation recognizing the 40th anniversary of Schoolhouse Earth, honoring the business for four decades of serving residents and visitors while contributing to Garrett County's economy and tourism industry.
The proclamation was presented during a celebration hosted by the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development. Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist for the Garrett County Department of Business Development and Chair of the Garrett County Chamber Diplomats, served as master of ceremonies.
Established in 1986 by Nancy Graham, Schoolhouse Earth has become one of Garrett County's most beloved shopping destinations. For the past 22 years, owner Stephen Rodeheaver has proudly continued that legacy, offering a unique shopping experience featuring specialty gifts, gourmet foods, home décor, seasonal treasures, and the friendly farm animals that have become a favorite attraction for generations of visitors.
In addition to the county proclamation, the Garrett County Chamber Diplomats presented Rodeheaver with a Certificate of Recognition commemorating the business's 40 years of success.
Those attending the celebration included Commissioners Paul Edwards and Larry Tichnell, County Administrator Kevin Null, Kim Durst, Manager of Business Development for the Garrett County Department of Business Development, Maryland Comptroller's Office Western/Mountain Maryland Public Engagement Officer Christy Butler, Garrett County Chamber Board Member David Jochynek, Chamber President Nick Sharps, and Chamber Diplomats Anne Davidson, Chris Rodeheaver, Kristin Skeweris, and Macey Wells.
Congratulations to Stephen Rodeheaver and everyone at Schoolhouse Earth on this outstanding milestone. The business's 40-year legacy is a testament to its commitment to exceptional customer service, community engagement, and making Garrett County a welcoming destination for visitors from near and far.
