Frostburg State University has announced the launch of its Entrepreneurial and Innovation HUB, an initiative designed to foster entrepreneurship and regional innovation. By integrating academic expertise, applied research, and industry partnerships, the HUB provides coordinated support to entrepreneurs, small businesses, and emerging industries—guiding them through the full innovation continuum, from early concept development to market growth.
The HUB is structured around five interconnected pillars that collectively form a comprehensive ecosystem aimed at reducing barriers to entrepreneurship and strengthening regional economic outcomes:
Appalachian Innovation Institute (AI2)
Center for Product Design and Advanced Manufacturing (CPDAM)
Together, these pillars create a seamless pathway for entrepreneurs, enabling progression from idea development and education through business formation, product design, production, market entry, and organizational expansion—without leaving the region. This coordinated approach supports economic diversification, promotes job creation and retention, strengthens rural and underserved communities, and positions Western Maryland as a region ready to innovate, compete, and grow.
