A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Friendsville celebrating the opening of the Herbal Earth Apothecary Owned by Alea McClintock-Donahue and her husband Jason, Herbal Earth Apothecary is a natural, holistic, and herbal wellness shop specializing in dried herbs, herbal and botanical products, wellness goods, and consultations. The shop also offers grab-and-go farm fresh foods, wellness beverages, tea, and coffee.
Garrett County’s Business Development Specialist Connor Norman led the ceremony. Local dignitaries in attendance included Friendsville Mayor Spencer Schlosnagle, Friendsville Council members Pam Humberson, Chad Fike, Ed Kelley, and Robert Sines, Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Board Member Patty Manown-Mash, and several members of the Greater Friendsville Business Association, including its President Mike Robinson.
"What an incredible moment for the Town of Friendsville,“ said Norman. “This is a tremendous new addition to the Town that will continue to help it flourish as a destination to shop, dine, and enjoy the outdoors. Congratulations on this achievement. You guys have done an incredible job making this a reality.”
Attendees congratulated the Donahue Family and expressed the positive impact they believe the business will have on the Town. Alea McClintock-Donahue spoke about their business and shared a deep gratitude for the support of her community.
“It’s really been a journey for us,” said Alea. “We’re just so excited that this dream of ours is coming to life here in Friendsville. We love this community, It's where I got started practicing primary care, so it’s really exciting to have a presence back here in town.”
“I am so proud of this little family,” said Mayor Schlosnagle. “Starting a new venture takes courage, hard work, and a real belief in the people you're serving. We’re so grateful to have you in Friendsville. It means a lot.”
The business is located at 253 Maple Street in Friendsville and is open Mondays from 10 AM - 4 PM, Thursdays from 9 AM - 4 PM, and Friday/Saturdays from 10 AM - 2 PM.
